I ask myself: How many AI Doomers are also more or less radical religious people of the christian orientation? Or have grown up in such environments? The doomsday second coming default perspective is quite deeply engrained in those circles. Or asked the other way around: how many atheists are in that camp? It's more a rhetorical question to shape the discussion, I admit.

@moritz_negwer @jwildeboer I suspect that sometimes, @cstross is afraid to blog more. Predicting the future is no good if some of the people being warned about the torment nexus see only unrealized demand in the torment sector.
I enjoy reading his blog and stories... until I make the mistake of encountering the real world afterwards.
@haihappen @moritz_negwer @jwildeboer Naah, I'm just old and burned-out. Been blogging for about 25-26 years at this point: I've said a lot, the big ideas don't come as rapidly these days.
@cstross @moritz_negwer @jwildeboer don't sell yourself short. I am sure there is an observation combined with the understanding of human nature there that just begs to be extrapolated along its current trajectory.
No pressure though, its not like the writing isn't on the wall basically everywhere...
I personally have a front row seat at a bad production of late 1920s, early 1930s Germany. Zero stars.
