What is interesting is that SD are loosing ground everywhere, on national level (Riksdagen/parliament), regional level and on the municipal level. Everywhere I have checked in the country they are loosing voters. I would like to see them loose more, and that we would have a larger red-green victory. However, their narrative that they are always gaining and are "true" representatives of the people is broken.

@randahl Although I hope you are right, and is as far as it gets, I do feel the need to nuance the optimism a bit.

Swedish politcal culture these days is a bit to found of blocks and tactical voting. Before summer the ”Liberal” party (L) where polling at around 1.5%. This was far below the 4% threshold they needed to pass to stay in parlament.

Now the final results are not in yet, but it looks to me like their last minute +3% gain matches the -3% loss you mention.

In the Netherlands we just lost a year of government with far right Geert Wilders. One year of political infighting and nonsense without any progress and then he pulled the plug…

The far right can only protest and will never deliver, and that is by design… let us keep it that way. Because make no mistake, they are even prepared to break the democratic principles to arrive and stay at power. We have seen what happened when Hitler came to power. Total destruction...

So it's not really good news.
