Today in late-stage capitalism I went to book an appointment to get my brows waxed and the app informed me I can pay for my haircut or dye over time with Affirm. That’s where we’re at with wages rn is you can take a loan to get a haircut
@danirabbit Steal the wheelbarrow but remember to tip the money oot first 😜
@danirabbit
My *BANK* shows "ads" in its app that I could split a purchase up into payments. It shows this about specific payments that I've already made. Seems silly to me. I never looked into it, but I wouldn't be surprised if fees or interest were involved.
Seems like there was once a time where one could expect their bank would be watching out for their interests. That no longer seems to be true.
@danirabbit having to use an app to book a hair cut, seems a lot worse than the option to pay for it in installments.
@s_d_brath oh I like the app actually lol. That part is convenient
@danirabbit If we're going to treat everyday expenses like 80s infomercial products--"Just three easy payments of $39.99"--they should at least have the courtesy to throw in a set of steak knives.
@danirabbit here we have been offered to buy our groceries over time for a while, it is truly the end times.
@danirabbit
"Two more.payments and these gels are mine."
It's not the apocalypse we need, but maybe it's the apocalypse we deserve.
