And they may be doing it using some of the same basic logic as #AI.

@TheConversationUS Hang on a moment. "Memories" is as charged a word as "pre-adaptation" used to be. Bacteria can store patterns in their genes, just like human DNA), that can change the fitness of each succeeding bacterium. That isn't memory. It's exaptation. Bacteria don't learn, they adapt. And AIs don't learn, they adapt. Learning implies a higher mental function, not a biologic lottery. An the study cannot state it was based on a single bacterial generation.
