If the existing edition of the game doesn't bring in new players then the problem won't be fixed by a new edition of the rules.
Of course, the deeper question is: So What?
Chaosium keep the lights on selling incrementally more expensive editions of books Call of Cthulhu nerds never read or play, surely the same is true of Glorantha nerds?
@Printdevil @Taskerland In my case Glorantha was inaccessible not because of the depth of lore (I have no problems with that if the lore interests me: c.f. Hârn) but because I literally could not get past the Ducks.
I know. Silly. But the Ducks, every time I encountered them, just made my brain short-circuit and I was unable to take the setting seriously, and Runequest is too involved a game to treat it as a comedy.)
And they kept pushing the effin' Ducks.
What's odd is I played RQ for *years* and we never encountered a duck.
Or a Walktapus.
I wonder though is that because I started in the 80s, and thus my Glorantha is very "mine" and now you can't do that sort of fresh-piece of paper version because there's so much lore just available at the click of a search?
@Printdevil @Taskerland Literally ever RQ product I ever owned or browsed through in shops had the Ducks on it somewhere. And that was legit a deal-breaker. Just having a **picture** of a "Barbarian Duck" (or whatever) made me put down the book and not look back.
I know that in-canon there's fewer than 10,000 Ducks in the entirety of Glorantha, and that diegetically you could live a thousand lifetimes without ever meeting one.
But they're the ludicrous face of Glorantha nonetheless.

I just don't *like* any of their newer (as in the last quarter century) stuff.
I don't think Glorantha is inaccessible either, I think they keep making versions of it that look like that. If it was just rules an a new version of cults of prax you wouldn't bat an eyelid learning it as a background, but they kept bringing it out as "1st of 75 partworks"
