I would rather work with a customer’s flat AI slop flyer than another fucking “print ready” canva created one.

@MichalBryxi Oh gods that's a rabbit hole!. The short is: a PDF can contain almost ANYTHING - but for print, you need some presumptions set
Not screen resolutions but print ones (higher). Pages with defined parts to them (bleed boxes, trim boxes, artwork boxes) - transparency blend spaces that make sense. single colour profiles for all objects within are helpful. Adjustable parts (is this image one image, or sliced into parts in a table?), and probably mroe than any of those 1/2
@MichalBryxi an in-app workflow that, when you're outputting for print, guides a user towards picking the right options to fit within a file destined for CMYK (or more!) colour output.
I *have* seen good canva output - but it's so so rare I can only presume the designers who created it worked hard to get it there.

Just because AI does a crappy job at something doesn't mean dedicated humans couldn't one up it and do a worse one. ;3
@kithop yeah! The AI slop flyers have two problems apart from the huge ethical ones: usually a bit low resolution, and usually a bit close to the edge. Photoshop is my home app, I can fix both those in seconds. The problems with canva files are just new ones every few months.
@NanoRaptor Is this an issue with the Affinity stuff? Or specific Canva software?
@sindarina canva makes absolutely atrocious PDFs. I’ve seen maybe ten ones good for print in the last six years - most need substantial defucking to work, sometimes where the easiest hack is to display on a 5k screen, screenshot them, then photoshop the screenshot.
@sindarina @NanoRaptor it's a bit of a mixture of target audience is canva not understanding things like "resolution" or "bleed" and the software giving them no help whatsoever
@funkylab @sindarina yeah. Canvas default if you don’t know what you’re doing seems to be near unusable output. Most other apps are “ehhh mid but fixable” output in the same case.
@NanoRaptor @sindarina it kind of doesn't help that it's truly the image editing program suite of the Instagram content creator™; I'd call the color scheme and style the whole company proliferates "garish", if that wasn't an insult to totally over-saturated 1990's TV sets worldwide
