I've always had a bad feeling about Graphene and the more they tried to damage Fairphone's reputation the more they pushed me to Fairphone with LineageOS.
You don't get a partnership with Motorola by truly fighting the system.

Because every developers favorite part of using code analysis tools has always been sifting through all the false positives.

@davidgerard The focus for that quote is static security analysis specifically, right? From what my clients have seen, it's about the same time dealing with false positives as traditional tools, but somewhat better issues as output. Not a huge improvement, but meaningful if you have a non-conversational interface.

@davidgerard That said, regardless of the interface, there are likely better search strategies to find the same vulns — a 1000x increase in computation should yield much more.
interesting or even surprising is that they don’t even try to downplay how much errors there are in the output - they focus on downplaying how easy it is to fix them 😹
every single time i saw a shitty codebase that i wanted to rewrite immediately but then didn’t, e.g. due completely nonexistent specs to do that right… i did regret it later quite a bit.

I did not spend more than fifteen years honing my craft only to be degraded to a babysitter for someone's poor-quality tool.

@davidgerard their stance and vibe coding are different. It is still morally wrong to use the slop machine for anything, but their approach doesn't necessarily lead to worse quality. They are doing more or less the same as curl.
I wouldn't give them any money because of that stance, but I don't trust their product less because of it.
