@lowqualityfacts High quality fact: Pennyfarthings were actually racing bikes. Before bikes had chains, the only way to change the ratio between your pedal cadence and your speed was to increase/decrease the size of the wheel.
These bikes weren't practical or safe, but they were not intended for a leisurely cruise through the park. Casual riders at the time were more likely to ride recumbent tricycles.
