One of the weirdest reverse culture shocks I'm experiencing (I did a little bit too last year, but this time even more) is the make-up of the population in my hometown. Not the fact that it is now quite multicultural, but how people "look". Old people look "normal." Middle-aged people somewhat look normal too, except they have tattoos everywhere, but people who are less than 40 are... strange? As if a bunch of young strangers with strange styles had invaded my hometown.

Basically, my field of reference is my hometown 30 years ago, and old people now are the former middle-aged people. Fine. Middle-aged people now are my generation. But younger people were babies or didn't even exist then. So "their" culture is totally foreign to me.
