On the pending autistici/inventi shutdown:
The wrong A/I is shutting down. It is AI that needs to shut down instead as they are the real terrorists with who they are helping (e.g Flock and Palantir) and their destructive climate effects.
Of course, it is quite understandable that autistici/Inventi would not want to expose all of the thousands of NoBlogs website owners to the risk of everything from Gestapo raids on their homes to being droned by Trump. Just because some of their users can accept the risk and fight at their side doesn't mean all of them can.
The worry now is that we have given ground and this may encourage Trump to sanction more anarchist and anticapitalist servers. At some point, we are going to have to turn, stand our ground, and give battle or we will lose all of our assets. Noblogs may have had too many civilian users to be the place for this however, based on their statement and on the sheer number of NoBlogs users.
There is even the risk that Signal could be next, though as they are domestic a different legal model would have to be used by Enemy forces. Prepare for this possibiliy and make sure you can contact your most important comrades in-person or on other encrypted messengers excluding untrustable Whatsapp.
There is however an opportunity to confine this battle to cyberspace. This is done by making the network impossible to target, by making it impossible to find or target those who created it. The computer version of leaderless resistance, or even of many lone wolves who speak to oneanother.
If the next Auttistici/Inventi is done on a .onion-only basis or something similar, it won't be possible to identify the physical server without months or years of investigation. It took them a whole year to find just the Silk Road darknet site as you recall. This still requires underground money handling, though there are probably .onion-only hosting providers comfortable with crypto etc.
If a distributed hosting model is used instead (e.g phone and web apps that talk peer to peer over the Internet), there will only be "illegal software" that is impossible to take down due to too many forks. In addition this means no server bills and no financial structure at all.
It is impossible to sanction, raid, or bomb something that does not exist as even a semi-centralized entity. If the software gets taken down from one repo it remains available on many others. Hell, the software could even be distributed as torrents. If the MPAA and RIAA cannot stop torrents neither can the FBI and the Dept of Injustice.
With tools like this we can stand our ground on a cyber battlefield selected to favor ourselves and force the attackers into a most difficult position.
