Currently reading a #typography book, and the authors have a random remark about some "Berthold ProfiPage" nostalgia, as that had some capabilities regarding justification missing from later software packages (book is early 2000s, so I doubt that has changed, given the lack of progress).

It seems that this was part of the rather fascinating 80s #DTP / phototypesetting era that predates and overlaps with the emerging "holy trinity" of Macintosh/Laserwriter/PageMaker.

Mostly proprietary hardware at quite huge price points. An early Sun workstation seems to be involved in the ProfiPage era, with Unix / XWindows involved. And all delightfully pre-yellowed.

Anyone know more about ProfiPage?
