Last week, after a disastrous welcome speech to first years at ENS, which got CS faculty raging at the line "I know you are all using AI now", we tried a little spontaneous survey. Apparently, only ~4/23 CS students in this CS cohort use AI regularly. When we said the default mode was to not use it for assignments because we want them to learn, there was nodding in the room, and apparently the previous cohorts did this too without needing an explicit policy.

It was so nice to have my first exercice class in more than a year with them today. They were thrilled to learn about Turing machines. Maybe not all is doomed? Or at least some kids are alright, and just as curious as ever!
