you know what would be cool? a flipdot-like display technology where it's just iron filings moving around.

@gsuberland i want scoot dot display where it‘s a fixed set of dots that just scoot around

@gsuberland man now I'm thinking about how one would build this. movable electromagnet is the obvious design but that can only move one dot at a time. how could you move a bunch of dots simultaneously
@halcy lots of tiny electromagnetic coils, and some sort of position feedback (camera? idk) that allows each dot to be routed along.
@gsuberland yeah, probably, and a grid of throughs on the floor to somewhat restrain movement
man i suck at hardware but i wonder where i could get some coils. this seems feasible and possibly very funny
