It shouldn't need to be said, but it must be said that while there are some unifying themes among Black politicians and Black people in the US there is as much much diversity among Black people politically as among any vast group of people.

White leftists and socialists tend to mostly know too few black people, and the few that they will know will be leftists and socialists. So they can be blindsided by the existence of Black liberals.
