Unfortunately, Mapquest does not seem to work with Android Auto.
@georgetakei it’s lovely to hear about folks who aren’t licking boots.
The better alternative, though, is OpenStreetMap (who also isn’t licking boots):
The great thing about OpenStreetMap is its openness. Anyone can build an app for it, anyone can contribute to it. There several great OSM apps. I use CoMaps. OsmAnd is another popular one.
OpenStreetMap often has more detail than Google Maps. It's particularly good at bicycle routes and hiking routes. Google Maps often sends cyclists along either car routes or sand paths. And the apps often work offline! Download the map you need, and it will work perfectly when you're in the wilderness where 5G coverage doesn't reach.

(I switched from Google Maps to Mapquest when Google bent the knee on the Gulf of Mexico, but would love to be using something truly open.)
So, here’s what a lot of people don’t realize. That whole traffic planning thing is built from tracking mobile phones in aggregate. So in order to have that feature, we have to contribute to collective tracking.
Sure, it’s helpful. I love that it gives me insights. But I’d prefer to not have it if it meant increased privacy for everyone.
I’ve disabled this tracking on my mobile device, but it’s sort of hidden and most folks don’t know about it.
