what, and i mean, the fuck it is with people posting mile long manifestos on mastodon’s hashtags?
or is it that mastodon’s hashtags aggregate from other platforms?
anyhow, whomever developed the plugin for #Wordpress and other federated blogging platforms, i beseech you: make it so people use your plugin as a synopsis for their longass blog posts and are forced to use a character limit.
i’ve had to mute and block quite a number of strangers abusing that feature.
yeah Mastodon hashtags include posts from all platforms. For that matter, even some Mastodon instances have 10000-character limits -- like this one, and I sometimes make fairly long posts here.
From a UI perspective, in some situations long posts are truncated with a "read more" option, which made it a lot less annoying --see @getfisaright.net (which is a wordpress blog) for some examples. But maybe that doesn't always work?
@jdp23 it’s definitely may not be broken from the publishing point of view, but for the reader, the ui/ux is pretty awful.
@blogdiva i also think it's kind of broken from the publishing point of view. If I correct a typo anywhere in the text, anybody who's boosted it gets a notification -- but without any information about what's changed. I'd also much rather have it just post the excerpt, but that's not an option.
