I am really conflicted on following AI critic people here. I appreciate a viewpoint that I don’t 100% agree with. I like that they criticize AI. There is a lot to criticize, valid questions to be asked.
But at this stage, if you still claim it can’t code for shit, then it’s clear you haven’t taken a moment to _actually_ look at AI.
Then what do I do with all your other criticisms that may well be valid?

The reason I mentioned you is because you are the most vocal in my timeline against AI, and I appreciate most of your posts. My apologies for the passive-aggresive tone, it was unintentional.
My honest question: aren't you worried the critics will loose credibility by claiming that AI still can't code?
@ristkof It can generate especially trivial code. Nobody argues against that. Especially basic-ass tools like web-based productivity suites and that can be generated easily (with dubious code quality and provenance of course).
The argument isn't that "AI cannot generate code" but "software development is not generating code"
@tante Fair, and I agree with "software development is not generating code", that distinction is one I'd make too.
"especially trivial code" does not match what I see on a day to day basis. At least the code it generates for me is far from trivial.
