It does feel pretty grim, at the end you're greeted with "Hey dead man" by the avatar of Prophet, and then the suit announces "assimilation complete" and you start referring to yourself as Prophet
I had interpreted this as you are taking on the mantle of Prophet and the responsibility that he’d claimed, and the ‘hello dead man’ was a macabre joke for how you could no longer survive without the nanosuit.
