Actually wait thing I have played/read and enjoyed and can rec as probably-your-wheelhouse -- have you played the two A Normal Lost Phone games?
@suricrasia They're smaller things, that have limited story-as-in-plot and instead mostly focus their resources on exploring a single character (each. they're two separate stories, just having presentation/narrative form in common).
They don't have NO puzzles, technically, like a handful of "find the key to this lock" puzzles of various natural-ness in terms of the presentation, but they use them really well to in a satisfying way gate different pieces so that despite the non-linearity of exploration, you still get a particular arc in which information you find when, and letting impactful moments hit, prior information be re-contextualized or given retroactive meaning, etc.
