So uuh, it works when plugged into my friends' Mac. And if I plug the tablet in via a USB-C dock then it turns on, but says the cable isn't valid. My laptop charges via the 2 USB-C ports but the tablet does nothing when I plug it into my laptop 💀
@kookie is the port on the tablet maybe somehow clogged with dust? I've had similar shenanigans with my smartphone already, it only charged with certain USB-C cables and not with others…
@daniel_bohrer It just works (tm) on my friends' Mac so it seems like both port and cable are fine. Maybe my Thinkpad just needs another motherboard swap 😵💫
@kookie USB-C cables have every pin twice, so one of them could be broken on the cable. That could be the same pin that is also clogged on your port, but not on other ports. Or something like that. Since I've cleaned the USB-C port of my smartphone with a toothpick (paper clip would probably work as well), it accepts more cable/port combinations again … :)
