I am deeply suspicious of these testimonials. I know a lot of blind people, and when I hear from someone I know I will say something. The only thing I have heard thus far was that it's a pain to configure them as vision aids, they aren't designed with this purpose in mind.

Do you remember when people were making this case that "AI helps disabled people ... somehow ..." and that made some people back off because, well that sounds amazing right?

IDK. I think these things can be very cynical.

@futurebird sight and/or hearing impaired people say the glasses are a life saver. They can describe what they see or add subtitles to chats.

(Aside: it would probably be pretty straightforward to hack the firmware of these things to make them into pure (non-pervert) accessibility aids, and I would bet multiple nickles that Facebook has designed them to make that extremely difficult to do.)

(Which (typically for Zuck) is *really* *stupid*, because that kind of goodwill is something he sorely needs.)
