It’s a country of violent puritans. Remember that, and it explains so much of what they do.

@jpm @todayilearned the many ways in which the US was a past success (by some measures) as well as being a hellscape for many others, and particularly now its undeniable decline into a christofascist bin fire is almost exclusively attributable to the violent puritanical streak and the various socio-economic-political mindsets that spring from it.
