A sensible civilization would do everything in its power to counter this looming catastrophe. To that end, it would try to learn as much as possible, because 2027 will be merely a test run for something that, by the 2040/50s at the latest, will become the norm and then the new normal. The techno-fascist elite, however, will not care about this. Their interest lies precisely in ensuring that there will be significantly fewer people in the future.
