Serial rapist policeman Alan Greer managed to be cleared to join Strathclyde Police in 2009, despite the staff undertaking the pre-job vetting being aware of his previous offending against women.

This is the problem of the police & sexual assault in a nutshell; the early signs of offenders who are likely to intensify their assaults, when their crimes are treated lightly, are missed, or more seriously, just discounted.
