i need some of yall to grasp how profoundly disrespectful it is to lay blame for the actions of the us gov’t at the feet of every individual person who lives here.
every day i wake up to find new ways my government plans to kill, kidnap or terrorize the people that live here, and i get to wonder if it’ll be me or my loved ones that they get next.
middle class white cishet europeans for whom the threat the US poses is abstract at best who want to lecture me on why we deserve it can fuck off.
next time you’re considering posting or boosting something about how all americans are to blame for the shittiness of our government, perhaps take a moment and ask yourself if your government is also shitty* and whether you think every shitty thing your government does, including to you**, is your own personal fault.
* if you’re on fedi, your govt is probably super shitty
** if your government doesn’t usually do shitty things to you specifically…maybe just sit with that, ponder it for a minute
