@drew's vim-classic, a fork of vim 8.3 code base,
@mrmasterkeyboard's evi, a fork of pre-vibe-coding vim 9.1 codebase,
helix. no plugins, but uses tree-sitter and supports lsp servers out-of-the box.

@gemelen at this stage i am seriously considering moving to emacs, and you need to understand this: i'm using vim as a primary editor since it was distributed on fred fish' disks with software for amigaos. so, more than thirty two years now.

vimclassic is a fork of rather old version (8.x), for newer feature it might also be worth looking into evi (that forked from 9.1)
