Linux currently has an all time high desktop market share of 7.53% as of July 2026. But what exactly happened over the last 2 months? In May 2026, Linux’s market share was 3.81%, so how did Linux gain approximately 3.72% points in just 2 months? https://gs.statcounter.com/os-market-share/desktop/worldwide/

Can you take a wild guess why people switching to Linux desktop? Is it Win11 forced AI and Ads? Something else?

Windows leads throughout the period, while OS X, macOS, Linux, Chrome OS, and other systems make up smaller shares. In July 2026, Windows has 71.18% of the market, followed by OS X at 12.21%, macOS at 7.61%, Linux at 7.53%, and Chrome OS at 1.47%.
