I agree about the eventuality of one UI to rule them all, at least for video. but I don't see most people being happy with that being a corporation. imagine instead that we go the way of podcasts and decentralize it all. every creator running their own site (or paying somebody to do that) and we get to choose among many apps that handle both #owncast and #peertube. we'd still need to figure out how to pay them directly and automatically an amount that would make participating worth it.
@wjmaggos That's why I wanted Owncast to be built upon standards. People can build all kinds of apps that could play them, but people aren't doing that. That's why I had to build mobile clients myself.
