For those in the UK puzzled why we Americans are so distraught over the passing of Dolly Parton: try to remember how you felt when you heard Queen Elizabeth had died. Then imagine how much worse it would have been if Queen Elizabeth had ever helped anyone

The woman was a self made cartoon caricature, who I never felt comfortable about.
Maybe she was a good person, but since I didn't know her - and nor did anyone on here - she's not important to me or you. I find it weird that when someone with "reach" died that people are suddenly connected to them. Sorry, nope

@happyborg @jalefkowit it's so comforting to know that I don't have to choose who I mourn, some tedious replyguy on the Internet will do that for me, based entirely on his refusal to actually know anything about the deceased.
@jalefkowit trust me when I say, Dolly was as revered in the UK as anywhere. I'm a lot sadder about her passing than I was about the Queen.
TBF, that wouldn't be hard. However, Dolly was on my list of strangers I hoped never died. It's a very short list.
