@craignewmark I dunno, wikipedia has never furnished my home like Craigslist has. Or helped me move, downsize, finish projects on budget, etc. etc. On the local community level, it certainly has had more of an impact in people's lives.

But I agree. Wiki is worldwide and Craigslist seems to only/mostly operate in the US, so there really isn't much of a competition.

@craignewmark Wikipedia and The Internet Archive. Two sites with the goal of making all human knowledge available to anyone. Pretty much the only two charities I support. No ads, no tracking; the web as it was meant to be.
