Being thanked by an elderly lady for queuing backwards for an ATM - as in facing the other way to make it perfectly clear I wasn't a threat - especially at 8am in the morning, isn't the world I wish to live in. Women shouldn't have anxiety issues around using cashpoints at any time, for crissakes.

@ApostateEnglishman I once woke up to realize I was crowding a woman who was at the ATM, and I said, "Oh, shit, I am *so* sorry. I was lost in thought," and I backed way off and turned the other direction. As she left the machine, she smiled shyly at me, and squeezed my elbow. "You're very sweet, dear."
