My wife and I do lots of BBC crime, and we've been pleased with a show called "New Tricks", which is short-arc cold-case murder dramedy. It has the most awful theme song, but it's charming, and one can come rather quickly to feel affection for the characters.
There's this character, Brian (the great Alun Armstrong), and he's some kind of aging neuro-diverse uber-dork. And he's married. And his wife is the absolute *epitome* of "long-suffering".
I think my wife identifies with her strongly.
@GeePawHill incidentally, did you know that theme song is sung by Denis Waterman, the actor playing Gerry Standing?
The other oddity I recall from that show is that the actress playing Brian Lane's wife, Susan Jameson, is actually married to James Bolam, who plays Jack Halford.
I mean, it's not that she doesn't adore me, or that she doubts how much I adore her.
It's just that I'm really weird.
And she shakes her head, and she puts up with it, and she works around it, and she loves me anyway.
Sometimes we're driving, me in the passenger seat, and I make some gesture with my hands and my face off to the side, and she glances over at me, and she says, "Didja get it?"
@GeePawHill armstrong was so believable as a neurospicy person that i wonder if he actually was.
