A question for fedi admins / lawers.
Is there any thing in the standard mastodon privacy policy that would prevent an admin from handing over the server database to a new person to run? Specifically in relation to the privacy of user data.
If the new person signs a confidentiality agreement? and agrees to uphold the existing privacy policy?
specifically the parts of the policy highlighted here, about:
- collecting information for the purpose of providing the service (which the new person would be doing)
- third parties who assist in operations, as long as they agree to keep the info confidential
Also, keeping the service on a managed hosting that provided the updates, probably already counts as one of these?
(I think this is the standard masto privacy policy? starbase80.wtf/privacy-policy )
Sorry I don't have time for alt-text today, maybe someone repost/ add it.
also I don't know what tags to use, so please boost.
