Research question: is there a specific term (possibly legal) for a person (or people) a ship is named after?

I found this after thinking "in Dutch we have naamgever (name giver), naamlener (name lender), and naampatroon (name patron).
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eponym
@cstross It could be "eponymist."
@cstross Isn't that "namesake"?
@cstross
In German it's Namenspatron, in case you wondered 🙃
@cstross
Naval formal and also public informally 'namesake', linguistically the ship is the 'eponym', the person is the 'eponymous name', ceremonial 'honorand'. Legal might be 'dedicatee'.
@cstross Generally, "eponym" or "namesake".
@cstross I normally go with dead
Boat ship or fictional relationship ship?
@gbargoud Boaty McBoatface.
