From 1959-1975, Laos was caught in the crosshairs of the American-led global crusade against communism during the Cold War. The war in Vietnam engulfed neighboring Cambodia and Laos. Many Lao, Vietnamese and Cambodian people alike were thus forcibly displaced often trading one war zone for another. One such person is May Sinoun, a 107-year-old Lao woman who was able to share her account.
