NYC is actually healing.
A north american river otter has been documented along the bronx river for the first time in roughly 100 years after appearing on a motion-activated camera in June. otters once disappeared from the area as pollution, habitat loss and trapping devastated local wildlife. After decades of restoration efforts improved the river’s water quality and surrounding habitat, its unexpected return is being celebrated as a hopeful sign of ecological recovery.
