It takes character to make that kind of decision knowing the potential consequences. All the admiration to the Carpentries, Dr. Kari L. Jordan, and Dr. Erin Becker.
After six years as Executive Director of The Carpentries, Dr. Kari L. Jordan (@drkariljordan), will step down on 1 September 2026. Our Associate Director, Dr. Erin Becker, will also be departing as part of a broader organisational transition.
Dr. SherAaron Hurt will serve as Interim Executive Director for a 6-month term.
Kari and Erin are deeply grateful to everyone who has contributed to our shared mission. In the interim, the Board has established a leadership structure to support continuity.
