#Fedihood looks like a really interesting experiment on the Fedi. Think basically like a simple version of Mastodon, but organized around places, so you can see people and conversations around specific towns / cities. Chat with your real world Fedi-neighbors, or the people living where you might be visiting. The interface is lightning fast, too!
I suggest creating an account not linked to your other Fedi accounts to maintain privacy. It's super quick and easy and doesn't keep location more granular than the city.
