China added an entire Germany's worth of low-carbon electricity generation in one year.

This bar chart compares the increase in China's electricity generation between 2024 and 2025 with the total annual electricity generation of other countries. China added approximately 497 terawatt-hours (TWh) of new electricity generation in a single year, an amount roughly equal to Germany's entire annual electricity output and greater than the total generation of countries such as the UK, Spain, Australia, Italy and South Africa. The chart also shows that most of this increase came from low-carbon sources, with solar contributing about 340 TWh and wind around 140 TWh, while hydro, nuclear and gas grew slightly and coal generation declined. By comparing one year's growth in China to the complete electricity production of major economies, the visualization illustrates the extraordinary scale of China's energy expansion and the dominant role that renewable energy is now playing in that growth.

There are undoubtedly still big concerns over human rights in China…but we can’t ignore the fact they as a nation they have been preparing for a post-fossil fuel existence, while the West has thanks to neoliberalism assumed the markets, mega corporations and Epstein class would somehow guide us towards a greener future. We’re still assuming that will happen…when will we wake up? When the house has burnt down.

Why do the values for nations other than china in this graph not detail renewables?

It suggests that all generation increases were fossil fuel based and that is not true.
