Do we think the iPhone Fold/Ultra will have a landscape oriented camera system, like all iPhones and iPads have to this point?
Or portrait oriented to better fill the inner display?
Or was the front facing square sensor introduced last year foreshadowing rear square sensors?
Regardless, I expect this to be a huge pain in the ass for Obscura
@BenRiceM It’ll be interesting to see how much is relatively ‘automatic’ for apps in terms of support and how many additional Fold-only bits will be in the mix from a UI and UX standpoint. Apple is, again, asking devs to support a colossally expensive device that will be owned by a tiny minority, which continuing to screw over developers more broadly with its actions.
@craiggrannell with camera stuff, it’s generally “here’s all the tools and data to do what you need to do but you’re on your own to implement it”
@BenRiceM Yeah, I didn’t imagine there would be a great deal of help. It’ll be interesting to see how things fall. If Apple ends up going with “actually, there’s now a whole new thing to support with this one device”, I do wonder how many devs will jump in, given how hostile the company has been towards app creators of late. It’s not like the Fold will be the top-selling iPhone.
