@aurynn the sad part is that electron is the only cross-platform UI framework most people use with baseline levels of accessibility
@simulo @freya @aurynn Compared to Electron, it's really lightweight – eg. NextCloud desktop client uses around 160 MB private bytes, VirtualBox 230 MB (without any VMs running), Transmission-Qt 60 MB, WireShark 200 MB.
Compare these to Discord, which has two 600 MB processes, one 135 MB and 3 at 10-20 MB.
While I agree - lunch rules apply. If you want a different course of action, it really helps to suggest one. "Do not do X" without an alternative proposal isn't a message that gets heeded.
So - what's the viable alternative? "Rewrite your code in another language and lrn2gui" is probably not viable either. Genuinely interested in if anyone is aware of an objectively superior alternative.
@tbortels Qt exists and always has.
@janriemer @aurynn @tbortels Tauri is just electron for rust
