Unfortunately, I can no longer recommend #CodeFloe as an alternative software forge. The values of its founder are clearly not aligned with my own.
I'll be removing a couple of internal projects I'd set up there.
I'm not sure what's the next step. I've been avoiding the idea of self-hosting #Forgejo but maybe at this point that's simply inevitable. 😅
(I self-hosted Gitea for a while way back in the day…)
@jaredwhite Do you have some sources for the founder's values? I don't want to question your decision, I only want to know what the problem is for you - maybe it's also a problem for me (I also recommended CodeFloe a few times).
@jaredwhite I do Self-hosting #forgejo for a couple of internal projects. It is really not that big of a deal. So don't be shy try it.
@jaredwhite +1 for forgejo. I self host it and access via tailscale when I'm not at home. Pretty rocksolid IMHO...hosted gitea before that and its pretty easy to migrate to.
@970uts1d3 yeah I'm literally doing exactly that now. Hardly took any time to set up too…I’m pleasantly shocked. Not bad for 30 minutes on a Sunday morning!
@bjn Yes I love Codeberg, but there is a class of projects I can't host there because they're not open source. Totally understandable, but I need a "commercial" alternative (or like I said, self-host).
@jaredwhite My closed source stuff is on gitlab, but only out of laziness. I really should move it all.
