@randahl I’m glad Elon exists: he’s showing the world that to make inordinate amounts of money and become one of the most powerful oligarchs in the world, you don’t need even an ounce of intelligence, you just need to be a sociopath eager to exploit even the most vulnerable.

Unfortunately, there are a lot of people who mistake success for intelligence, even with this kind of counterexample. Neal Asher's latest series starts with a dedication to Elon Musk. This was published in 2025, so anyone with a moderate amount of intelligence could have no excuse for claiming ignorance of the enormous damage he's done to the world as a result of a combination of stupidity and hubris.
