I am pleased to report that my dad feigned ignorance to make the guy awkwardly explain what he meant, then said “no, I’m the diversity hire, all of them are the real Americans”

When my mom started medical school, the dean gathered everyone in the auditorium and announced "I've been forced to admit three women into this class, but I want everyone to know that they took a spot away from a qualified man."

Fifty-something years later, my dad just got his latest batch of cardiology fellows, residents, and interns -- and every one of them is female.

My mom was an eye doctor and my dad was her office manager for nearly 30 years.

Every so often, someone would call, often a salesperson, wanting to talk to "Dr. <lastname>", and my dad would pass the phone to her, but they'd still insist on talking to "Dr. <lastname>"

So, the phone would back to my dad, and he'd waste as much of the persons time as possible before telling them why he wasn't going to be doing business with them.
