“When you open a new credit card, you necessarily give the credit card company your address. You probably expect that information to remain with your bank.
But when you open a new credit card or change your address on file, your address leaves your credit card provider, travels through a web of middlemen companies, and ends up with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), which can [use] that data with other pieces of information about your life without a warrant.” https://www.404media.co/you-opened-a-credit-card-ice-now-knows-where-you-live/
@heidilifeldman jesis fucking christ
@heidilifeldman we. need. to. own. our. own. data. And tell companies if they can use it or not.
@heidilifeldman oh no another thing to be upset about please stop. Oh no oh dear whoa is me. No just plan. I really don’t care. And that’s only because of the way. The state of affairs is right now it’s awful and the future does not look bright. We have literal criminals and rapist running the country. Absolutely no hope.
@heidilifeldman Does this affect debit cards as well?
@heidilifeldman That entitles us to give out ICE agents’ addresses then. Can't have it both ways.
@heidilifeldman
1. Banks should give out info to exactly no-one but me and the IRS.
2. No company at all should be allowed to give any customer info to anyone but law enforcement with real warrants.
That includes data on website users.
Yeah, it'd crash the whole data brokerage industry. It would be glorious. It is a scourge on mankind that needs upending harder than when Luther called BS on the Church selling indulgences.
