@GossiTheDog Asserting ownership ("text I own") over the output of the generator based on your input is an amazing thing all on it's own. "I caused it to be generated, therefore it's mine" is a hell of a thing.
@Unlikelylass @GossiTheDog Are we talking copyright law? As I understand it, the status quo is that the output of a slop extruder is uncopyrightable.

The bit that is settled (in the US) is that it is not copyrightable by the person prompting it because it is not a new creative work.
That doesn’t quite mean that it isn’t copyrightable. If you paint a painting, that is a new creative work and you own the copyright. If I photocopy it, that is not a new creative work and so I can’t copyright it, but it is a derived work of yours and, since there is no independent creative aspect, you continue to own all of the copyright. If the output of a generative neural network meets the bar for being a derived work of something that was in the training set, it may still be copyrightable, just not by the person who caused it to be extruded.
