@lauren You have to *be crazy* to *want* that much money, knowing what the reaction of humanity to you would be. So it’s largely self-selection. 🤷🏻♂️
@lauren I genuinely believe wealth at a certain point causes/is a mental illness.
Look at Bezos and especially Musk, Trump. There is something incredibly wrong with these people and it is not explainable by just poor morals or greed.
@lauren I am reluctant to jump from correlation to causation, but if so, here are the options:
+ nutso people have a bizarre economic advantage in becoming rich
+ people who are rich have a psychology advantage in becoming crazy
For the former, this creates a societal advantage for anyone who acts crazy. At scale, this destroys society. For the latter, there is an easy way to help these unfortunate souls. In both cases, the problem is solved by abolishing ultrawealth.
It's frankly terrifying that we know about rich and authoritative people to be utterly nuts and THAT we do nothing about it.

@lauren I’m not sure which is the cause and which is the effect, but having too much money clearly makes you nuttier.
@lauren Power corrupts, not just morally, but cognitively. When you can "do anything," then the bounds of logic, the rules, fade into the background and seem irrelevant.
