UBI and MMT are intended to address two different issues, both arising in different aspects a scarcity economy where market exchange prevails. In most postscarcity scenarios, costs have imploded to the point that money is superfluous for most things. Musk was exposed to the three ideas separately, half-remembered them, and slapped them together in a conversation without fully (or even partially) understanding the implications of any of them in material terms, or working out how they would interact in combination.

@KevinCarson1 perhaps some strange UBI where the government is always printing money, and people like Musk are getting richer and richer, buying up all the productive capacity and real estate and controlling everything. I'm also suspicious that Musk's version wouldn't be universal, anybody he disapproved of wouldn't get it.
