People will say you have no expectation of privacy in public, and that is true, but it's not what we're actually talking about.
For the VAST majority of human history, we had no expectation of being *recorded*.
It's only the last few decades that that was even possible.
Our laws need to catch up.
@OrionKidder @r_alb Indeed. Being seen and being recorded are completely different things.
@Em0nM4stodon @OrionKidder @r_alb I would even go as far as to say I don't personally mind being recorded, what I really mind is it being used and weaponized by private companies to provide law enforcement surveillance that would be otherwise illegal for them to collect.
The idea of "we're not breaking the law because a third party is surveiling you without a warrant" is the sort of logic a 6 year old uses when trying to talk themselves out of trouble.
