I am not so much annoyed at a new IoT device in 2026 not accepting a Wi-Fi passphrase over a certain length, as I am the complete absence of information about this, either in the UI, or in the error message.
Sorted now, with a new SSID for that VLAN, but grrr...
@neil I've had that with a towel rail. At the time my only option was the router's guest network. I can do it better now, but actually changing the network connection on the device is more hassle than I have spoons for...
@foxbasealpha Yes, I was not in the mood for reconfiguring all the devices on the IoT VLAN with a different passphrase, so going for a new SSID was the only realistic option for me.
Of course, that strongly implies that it doesn't hash the password, which does not bode well for their software competence.
@neil I once got completely opaquely locked out of a CMS I was working with because a language filter was picking up a swear word in my passphrase. Very hard to figure out even with access to the logs and database.
